1953年9月，某省城。我公安机关收到敌情通报，敌人要在国庆节制造爆炸事件。侦察员顾群（印质明 饰）接受任务后，立即走访群众，了解破案线索。特务何占彪（浦克 饰）、白松亭（李颉 饰）采用偷寄匿名信、制造交通事故等手段，诬陷接待处司机平小海（赵联 饰），转移公安人员的侦察方向，从中混水摸鱼。小学生淘气（马世达 饰）做梦都想不到，在他喜欢摆弄的闹钟里竟被人安放了定时炸弹，爆炸时间为国庆节上午十点钟。何占彪作案后想座火车逃跑，但被顾群抓获，与此同时，平小海的女朋友赵小惠（贺小书 饰）正帮着小海从被人诬陷的苦恼中恢复过来。审讯室内，何占彪盯着墙上的挂钟，十点钟过去了，炸弹没有响......
剧情：
不走运的32岁单身主角桃地望（松坂桃李 饰），在工作上总是出包，没有出人头地与恋爱愿望。唯一的兴趣是在家里看最喜欢的漫画。
有一天，被最喜欢的漫画作者蟹釜ジョー本名唯月巴（麻生久美子 饰）解救在超市与客人纠纷。之后甚至被委托做家政夫的兼职，在不知不觉中变成了朋友以上恋人未满的关系……在一次桃地被唯月推倒的时候，婉拒了的她亲吻，但还是被邀请去旅行。但是等待着桃地的是唯月突然往生的消息，而且一位陌生的大叔（井浦新 饰）出现在悲伤的桃地面前，向他表示：我是巴。
