三十二岁的佩图尼亚身材微胖、相貌平平，空有一张历史文凭却毫无工作经验，面试再度失利还被男主管狠狠羞辱。在返家路上，佩图尼亚遇上男士限定的年度主显节“泳渡夺十字”大赛，抢到十字架的人将获得一整年的好运。神父在吟唱时失手提早开赛，上百位教徒壮丁争相跃入冰冷河水，万念具灰的她也不假思索地跳河奋游，竟破天荒抢得头筹。男性群起愤慨、神父大喊亵渎，一切随着网路影片疯传越演越烈，警方、记者、家人、朋友全都作对，这场前所未见的闹剧该如何解决？ 启发自马其顿的真实事件，导演以强烈的影像，幽默讽刺的口吻，透过精准的女性特写，大胆批判马其顿的性别不平等，冲撞保守的宗教戒律，更呈现出司法和媒体的种种乱象。特立独行的佩图尼亚，仿佛是上帝派来考验那些陷入疯狂的世人，缩影了整个荒谬社会，成为一则当代警世寓言。
